Texas Independence Movement - Disgust and Outrage

The Texas Nationalist Movement is attempting to put a measure on the ballot getting the votes to secede from the United States.  Texas, that was an independent nation before joining the union, did join the Confederacy during the Civil War when secession was about slavery and other economic issues.   This time around, the issue is really the tyranny of the federal government with all of its taxes and regulations.  If they get this measure on the ballot, which might very well pass, it will only be advisory because apparently the States do not have the right to secede as enforced by the barrel of a gun.  However, if states choose to secede, why shouldn't they be able to walk away from a federal government that makes life miserable for the hard working Makers in society.

In the West, in states like Nevada where I live, the federal government owns and controls 86% of our land from Washington DC.  Why do we need bureaucrats in Washington DC and in essence elected representatives from other states determining land use in Nevada and other Western states.  At a minimum, aside from seceding from the union, we need a Sage Bush Rebellion to get back control of our land.  And, why do many of us pay 30 - 55% of our income to a bloated federal government that has failed us so miserably.   We do need to outsource our national defense to the federal government; but otherwise, we don't need this major overlay of government.   We send them our hard earned money.  It filters through a corrupt system where politicians of both parties, all on the take feeding at the trough, send back the crumbs to buy votes so that they can continue feeding at the trough.    There is something very wrong with this picture.

Hurrah for the people of Texas for attempting to secede from the Union.  Even if the vote is only symbolic, it will send a message that we are fed up with the federal government and all the politicians in Washington DC that accomplish nothing important to the American people.   Every state should hold a referendum on seceding from the Union.  Why not?   It is the ultimate way to show our disgust and outrage toward all the crooks and empty suits in Washington DC.
