Collective Bargaining & Government Employees

It is time to end collective bargaining for all government employees, which would include police, firemen and teachers because these unions are contributing to the bankruptcy of our states and our country. Instead, while there can still be representation for government employees, they should be governed by federal and state civil service commissions that should apply private sector compensation and benefits practices to government employees. Certainly, government employees should not be paid more than comparable private sector employees; nor should they receive pensions greater than private sector employees. This is just common sense.

The unions and environmental wackos have contributed to the demise of manufacturing in the United States. As those jobs went overseas and union membership fell in the private sector, 40 years ago Socialists began their quest to unionize government employees. The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is perhaps the biggest among them along with the National Education Association (NEA); but there are many other public employee unions, as well. To their credit these public employee unions have done a great job securing compensation and benefits for their members; however it has been without any regard for the American taxpayer's ability to pay for those benefits. All of this has to stop to prevent the bankruptcy of both our states and our country. It is time for WE THE PEOPLE to stand up and say NO MORE! And, in fact, we must roll back these unions completely. Collective Bargaining is simply incompatible with public service.

As a case in point, the Post Office is basically bankrupt because of the compensation and benefits it is has provided postal employees. In the last fiscal year, the Post Office lost $8.5 billion with no end in sight. This will only get worse if there is any attempt to raise postal rates which will result in less revenue for the Post Office, not more, as Americans find other cheaper ways to communicate and/or pay bills. But the Post Office is just one example of public employee union disregard for the taxpayer. Teacher Unions, as well, have extracted benefits at the expense of maintenance of our schools so much so that many are dirty and run down.

Socialist President Obama just gave TSA employees at our airports the right to collective bargaining, which will just be one more group feeding at the trough. And, bankrupt California is the poster child for public employee union control of the entire state. We can clearly see what happens when the entire political establishment is controlled by these unions that continue to push for higher and higher taxes even if it leads to the demise of the state with more and more companies leaving California. It is dumb, dumber and dumbest in California.

Socialists will never end collective bargaining for public employees because they are highly dependent on those feeding at the trough for campaign contributions. This is a vicious circle. Socialists are bought off with campaign contributions so Socialists agree to compensation and benefits schemes that are bankrupting our country. Whose bread they eat, whose song they sing. And, in this case, Socialists sing like canaries flying above all state capitals and Washington DC.

We must take back our country in 2012 and 2014 by electing Conservatives committed to ending collective bargaining for public employees. Taking this action is critical to the fiscal solvency of the United States. We must sweep these Socialists out of office by electing Conservatives that support free market capitalism, limited government, lower taxes and less regulation, a balanced budget, term limits, real education, energy and health care reform, a strong national defense, including securing our border and fighting Terrorism, the right to bear arms, the sanctity of life and family values that are the foundation of our nation. This is the platform supported by the majority of the American people and the only way to restore economic growth and job creation in America.

Most important, we must take back our county by electing Conservatives (not RINO's) that will adhere to the Constitution, as written by our Founding Fathers, not as contrived by the left wing media, public employee unions, Socialists in the last 97 years, former Presidents, Congresses, or the Courts. No where in the Constitution is there any mention of Collective Bargaining for public employees, so it has to go. We must take back our country in 2012 and 2014. We can do it. We must do it to preserve our freedom, our nation and way of life and for the sake of our children and grandchildren.
