Government Spending - Time For Common Sense

The federal government takes in about $3 Trillion in revenues each year and spends about $3.8 Trillion.  Obviously, Obama is borrowing the short fall.  This represents about 25% of our $15 Trillion Gross Domestic Product.   Our current $17 Trillion National Debt exceeds our GDP, which is very dangerous.  The federal government should be spending about 17 - 20% of GDP, or certainly no more than the revenues generated each year.   Common sense, huh?

So, based on current revenues, the Congress needs to cut $800 Billion in spending, which is entirely feasible by eliminated waste, fraud, abuse and redundancy in all the programs, agencies, commissions and departments of the federal government.   We also need to eliminate about 500,000 federal jobs, out of the 2.65 million federal civilian employees, over five years, through normal attrition and retirements.

The current $3 Trillion in revenues that the federal government takes each year should be allocated one-third to Defense, one-third to Entitlements and one-third to Discretionary Spending, which should include dealing with Natural Disaster, foreign aid and paying off the current $17 Trillion National Debt etc.   That's it.  Just plain and simple common sense.   We can't keep borrowing 40 cents for every dollar we spend and spending money we don't have.   We can't tax our way out of the deficit spending that continues every year.  It is impossible.

America wake up and demand this plan from our elected representatives.   It does mean that there will have to be Entitlement Reform.  It does mean that Defense Spending will need to come down.   It does mean that we have to cut the size of government.   If these things don't happen, we will see the economic collapse of the United States and then all hell will break loose.   We will see civil unrest on our streets and the potential dissolution of the United States.   We can't let any of this happen.   Don't believe it can't happen because in history it has happened in other countries.

WE THE PEOPLE must stand up and demand common sense in government spending.  Call your Congressman, Senators and the White House and demand the simple plan this Blogger has described.   Do it now!!.
