Cyber Attacks - The New Cold War

It was recently reported that the US Energy Department experienced a Cyber Attack believed to have been implemented by China; but it could have been by Iran, or Terrorists.   This is not the first time a government agency has been attacked; nor will it be the last.   It is thought that China has several hundred thousand people, probably in their military, conducting Cyber Attacks on various governments and companies to steal technology.   Israel apparently used Cyber Terrorism to set back Iran's nuclear program.  Cyber Terrorism is the New Cold War.

This is a very serious problem.   The US government must do more to insure that these attacks are foiled.   Major companies are already spending billions of dollar attempting to install more Information Technology Security to prevent the loss of their proprietary information.   But otherwise, the question is what do we do about it.

When we discover that a particular country implements Cyber Terrorism there must be some sort of retaliatory action; yet that is problematic since no doubt the United States is probably doing it too related to our enemies.   And, why not.  It is better than hot war.  The best we can probably do is more to secure our systems to make it harder for anyone to break in.   This is really like fortifying your home to prevent a burglar from entering.    Welcome to the Information Age.   It is what it is.
