Obama - America Has Gotten Soft

Socialist President Obama has consistently blamed his failure on former President Bush, acts of God, the financial crisis in Europe and now the President has concluded that America has gotten "soft" in the last few decades.   For once, this Blogger and the President agree on something; but I am sure for very different reasons.    While Obama may conclude that America has failed to compete with other countries because American business has just given up on America; the reality is that 100 years of Socialist creep has converted our country from a free market opportunity society to an entitlement society.  ObamaCare is the culmination of this progression into second rate status.

Today, millions of American, that can work, are on life time Disability receiving checks each month from the government that apparently provides them a living wage.   43 million Americans are on Food Stamps, a record number, many of whom live in permanent poverty.   Millions are on Welfare.  Millions are now on extended unemployment benefits.   About 50% of Americans pay no income taxes at all, while the top 10% of income earners pay 70% of income taxes.  Union government employees are being paid total compensation and benefits that are 20 - 40% greater than is typical in the private sector.   We have manual labor jobs, that Americans out of work, just will not take even though their education and skill set makes them suitable for no other jobs.   Frankly, it is much easier to be on Disability or Welfare than to take a manual labor job.  Illegal aliens that have entered our country are more than willing to take those minimum wage jobs.

And, we have an entire cadre of elites, presumably Socialists that live and even get rich on the misery of others.   These are the poverty pimps that continue to make "victims" out of the poor in our country to advance their own selfish interests.   Socialists argue for all the government programs that keep the "poor" on the plantations of our time.   Rather than support school vouchers to allow parents with kids in failing public schools to put their kids in better schools,  the same way President and Michelle Obama have done, they insist that these poor kids remain in horrible inner city public schools because teacher union jobs are at stake.   In addition, more than 100 years after the West was won so to speak, we still have Indian Reservations in the Unites States.   Tribal leaders are given $13 billion each year to maintain these Reservations, while Indians on those Reservations suffer very high poverty rates and Alcholism.   Why not just deed the land to the very Indians this money is intended to help and free them from this bondage.

In addition, there are corporations in our country that benefit from crony capitalism.   This is particularly true related to companies that are into "green technologies".   These companies must get guaranteed financing from the government because the private sector will not bet on their business plans since their products are only feasible if gas is at $7 or $8 a gallon.   Other companies get government subsidies and bail outs at taxpayer expense to make them more profitable for their shareholders.   It is important to note that most small businesses, that employ 70% of Americans, get no such loan guarantees or subsidies.  That is OK.   Most small businesses want nothing to do with government.   In fact, most small businesses are harmed by government regulations that are a detriment to their growth.

Socialist President Obama is right.   America is "soft" because the federal government has created an entitlement society.   Further, as a result of Socialist creep, high taxes and stifling regulations many American companies have just given up on America choosing instead to invest overseas.   Actually, 42,000 manufacturing companies have left the United States as a result of government action.    We can fix all of this; but not as long as President Obama and his Socialist pals in government remain in power.   We have to recreate the opportunity society that made the United States great by pushing back 100 years of Socialism.   This does not mean allowing for starving people on our streets; but it does mean that people than can work should not be receiving benefits for life.

We have to take back our country.   It is not that America is "soft".  It is that the federal government has grown so big and so intrusive that it is destroying our country and our economy.   We have to contain the federal government to the original intent as written by our Founding Fathers.   We can do it.   We must do it in 2012 and 2014 to preserve our freedom, our nation and way of life for the sake of our children and grandchildren.    We will take back our country to restore economic growth and jobs again in America.   It will be hard work; but the American people are up to the job.
