Governor Rick Perry's Energy Plan

Governor Rick Perry of Texas, who is seeking the Republican nomination for the Presidency, has it exactly right.   Perry is advancing an energy plan as the cornerstone of his overall economic plan to restore economic growth and job creation again in the US.   Perry's plan will directly create 1.2 million high paying jobs in the energy sector, which will lead to even more jobs throughout the nation.

There is no way for the US to grow once again at 4% of GDP or more without cheap energy.    And, without growth of 4% or more, we will continue to have high unemployment for years to come.   Perry is wise to suggest that immediately upon coming into office, he will issue executive orders to allow the energy sector to make the US energy independent.   This also means reigning in the Environmental Protection Agency, which currently under Socialist President Obama, is a job killer.

Energy is the foundation of our country.   We clearly are seeing with all the government boondoggles and crony capitalism under Obama that new technologies like Solar, Wind and Bio Fuels cannot possibly replace carbon based fuels and nuclear energy for many years to come.    It might be appropriate, assuming the federal government can find the money without borrowing it from the Chinese, that tax monies should be used to fund research related to new technologies; but funding actual risky development that occurred with bankrupt Solyndra and other solar and wind companies, is not sound thinking.   The technology is just not there yet because Renewables are not economically feasible without huge government subsidies and or doing everything possible to destroy both carbon based energy and nuclear power; which is Obama's intentional strategy.

It is time to recognize reality and here it is.    There may be Global Warming; but the notion that is it caused by human intervention, rather than normal climatic cycles remains to be conclusively proven.   However, if we accept that there is Global Warming then in the short term the best way to deal with it is to encourage conservation by various tax incentives.   Making our homes and commercial buildings and applications more energy efficient makes perfect sense anyway.   So if the government wants to intervene in an attempt to control carbon emissions, the best way is to reward the desired behavior through tax incentives, not fund crony capitalism and development of technologies that don't yet to do anything meaningful to produce significant amounts of energy.   The reality is that we can save far more energy through conservation in the near term, which will reduce emissions, than can ever be produced by Renewables with current technology.

We need a 50 year energy plan designed to make the US energy independent, which includes development of oil, oil and gas shale, natural gas, clean coal, nuclear power and eventually Renewables, when they work, all within our borders, or off shore.   All of this can be done in environmentally sound ways with additional safety measures.   Everyone wants clean air and water and safe energy production so environmental wacko claims are bogus.   The mobs protesting on Wall Street and in other cities really should be protesting that we don't have an Energy Plan designed to make the United States energy independent.   The future of our country and the American people is highly dependent on the availability of cheap energy.

Governor Rick Perry gets it.   We have to take back our country in 2012 and 2014 by sweeping Socialists in government, including President Obama, out of office because they don't get it.   Obamanistas are doing everything possible to destroy carbon based energy and nuclear power in our country.   We can't allow that to happen because it will result in second class status for our country and a lower standard of living for our people.    We must take back our country both to prevent the bankruptcy of our nation and to restore economic growth and jobs creation.   We can do it.   We must do it to preserve our freedom, our nation and way of life for the sake of our children and grandchildren.
