Republican Senator Lugar Loses Primary

80 year old, Republican Senator Richard Lugar of Indiana lost his primary battle to Richard Mourdock, Indiana's State Treasurer.   Despite being outspent by 3 to 1 and having the support of the Republican establishment, Mourdock supported by the Tea Party, was able to take down this 6 term Senator, who did not even maintain a residence in Indiana any longer.  Though a moderate Conservative, Lugar had a long history of "reaching across the aisle" to work with Socialists to advance Socialist creep, during his term in office.

Lugar also consistently voted to steal from the Social Security Trust Fund to pay for annual government operating expenses and to increase our National Debt to the $16 Trillion we have today.  Lugar was part of the problem in Washington DC, he was not part of the solution.

Lugar had to go to send a message to all Republicans.   The Republican Party is the Conservative Party of America.   As such, moderates or RINOS, willing to "compromise" with Socialists must be purged from the Party.   It is these Republicans that have been complicit in creating the financial mess we face today.   It is these Republicans, in the last 100 years, that have allowed the Socialist creep we must now roll back to protect our freedom and prevent the bankruptcy of the United States.   Republican, politicians for life, that have been go along to get along kind of guys have to go.

Richard Lugar is 80 years old and since there are no Congressional term limits, he was running for his 7th term in office.   Enough is enough.  Lugar was not a bad guy and even had a 77% Conservative voting record; but the fact is that living in Washington DC for 36 years means he was not really a resident of Indiana anymore as evidenced by the fact that he did not even have a home there.   They had to use the family farm as his address just to allow him to run for reelection.  Lugar lived in Washington DC and will likely die in Washington DC.  Lugar was a member of the permanent political class feeding at the trough.

We need citizen politicians, as was intended by our Founding Fathers, not politicians for life living off the fat of the land.  Since these characters will never willingly give up office, we need Congressional Term Limits to make it happen.   Richard Lugar's primary loss is a shot across the bow to other Republican elected officials.   The Republican Party should stand for free market capitalism, lower taxes, less regulations, a balance budget and Constitutional Amendment to guarantee it, term limits, a strong national defense, including securing our border and fighting Terrorism, the right to bear arms, the sanctity of life and family values that are the foundation of our nation.   Republicans that do not fully support these ideals must be defeated so that we can get our country back on track.
