Obama Slashes US Military - What A Surprise

Socialist President Obama went to the Pentagon to announce that he wants to slash the US Military in the next 10 years by $487 Billion.   Obama used the Pentagon as a backdrop with Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and the stone faced Joint Chiefs of staff as his props for the announcement.   Who knows if a leaner military can be a meaner military if we are faced with a war, or additional Terrorist threats.   This Blogger does not accept Pentagon support for these cuts as any indication that they make sense because all of the Generals and the Secretary of Defense, standing behind Obama, were appointees that can be fired by the President.   Naturally, they must support Obama's actions.  What else can they do. We have to wait and hear from retired military high level officers and knowledgeable members of Congress to determine if these cuts will allow the United States to remain a Super Power.

It should be no surprise to anyone that Socialist President Obama would look to slash spending on the military.   Socialists are always weak on defense; but let's never forget that the primary purpose of the federal government, above all else, is to preserve and protect our nation, not spend money on new entitlements, which is always a Socialist goal to buy elections.   The real question aside from our defense implications is what is going to happen to this supposed savings of $487 Billion.   Will it be used to pay down the $16.7 Trillion National Debt?  Don't count on it if Obama is reelected.   Our National Debt is slated to grow by $10 Trillion in the next ten years if the Obama trajectory is allowed to continue.

Socialist President Obama did not reference where the savings is going because he has no intention of reducing the size of government by this amount, or any amount.  Government under Obama has grown to 25% of GDP, the highest level since World War II.   Obama will add $4 - $5 Trillion to the National Debt in just his first term in office, the highest amount in American history.  President George W Bush added $4 Trillion to the National Debt in 8 years, two terms by comparison, which was bad enough.   So as President Obama attempts to "transform" our country into a European style, weak Socialist nation, cutting the military was always part of his plan.   Let's just hope Obama has not endangered our nation, the way Jimmy Carter hollowed out our military.   We won't know for sure until we face an enemy and can't respond with overwhelming force.

Look, we have to make cuts at all levels of the federal government.   No doubt, there is waste in Defense spending.  The problem is that entitlements, that are really the killer, continue to grow out of control, in ways that are not sustainable.  ObamaCare is going bankrupt our nation.   We have 2.65 million federal civilian employees working in redundant programs, agencies, commissions, departments etc.  Obama is not proposing to cut any of them.  In fact, Obama continues to add federal employees with every intention of making them members of public employee unions.

Obama wants to give TSA workers, you know the guys at the airports that require a day of training to do their mindless jobs, the right to unionize so we can pay them fully loaded compensation and benefits of perhaps $80,000; just wait and see.   Logical cuts in the military may be fine; but we need to see cuts in all government functions so that government consumes no more than 17 or 18% of GDP, instead of Obama's 25%.   That will never happen as long as Obama is in office and the Socialists control either branch of the federal government.

We have to take back our country in 2012 and 2014 by sweeping Socialists at all levels of government, including President Obama and dinosaur RINO's, out of office.   Maybe the military cuts make sense; but why aren't we seeing the entitlement cuts that are really needed.   And, why aren't we talking about a hiring freeze to cut 500,000 federal civilian employees, by normal attrition, over the next five years to slash Trillions in federal spending over the next 10 years.   We have to elect real Conservatives to get the job done.   We have to put on our hip boots to drain the swamp in Washington DC.   We can do it.  We must do it to preserve our freedom, our nation and way of life for the sake of our children and grandchildren.  In the mean time, stay close to the discussion about cuts to our military.  Our country depends on getting it right.
