Presidential and Federal Power - Out Of Control & Dangerous

When the US Constitution was finalized as the basis for governance of our country in 1787, it was established because the earlier Articles of Confederation put in place after the Revolutionary War did not sufficiently deal with the many issues facing our young country.   The Constitution established a limited form of government that recognized that government that governed least, governed best.   As such, the Constitution provided for checks and balances on power by establishing the supposedly equal branches of government; the Legislative (Congress), the Judiciary (Supreme Court) and the Presidency.  In addition, our Founders were very focused on a few basic functions for the federal government that included providing for the common defense, allowing for interstate commerce, which eventually included the Post Office, establishing a common monetary system and generally providing for the rule of law.   Otherwise, all other powers were left to the states, or the individual as described in the Bill of Rights, the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution.

Some how, some way in the last 110 years, in particular but even before, through Acts of Congress, Regulations Promulgated by the Federal Agencies managed by the Executive Branch, Presidential Executive Orders and Judicial Activism, the Federal government has extended its reach into every aspect of daily life.  And in many ways the President has become an elected Dictator who wages war and spends our money as he sees fit.   There is no doubt that the federal government, as managed by all three branches of government, certainly ignores states rights and individual rights often as though the original Constitution does not exist.  Some Socialist politicians even deny the relevance of the Constitution.

Our Founding Fathers are probably turning over in their graves.   In their wildest dreams they could never have imagined the usurpation of power that has taken place in the last 110 years.   Remember, there was no federal income tax in the original US Constitution, which clearly indicates that our Founding Fathers never supported the arbitrary confiscation of personal wealth to redistribute income.   That did not come until an amendment was added to the Constitution in 1913 by Socialist President Woodrow Wilson.  It was by then that politicians of both political parties figured out that they could win re-election by bringing home the bacon; hence the origin of the term pork barrel spending.

Today, 50 million Americans are on Medicaid, so it is a fallacy to say that the poor don't have medical insurance.   Their medical bills are covered by the federal and state governments.  About 50 million American Senior Citizens are on Medicare.   40 million Americans get food stamps.   Millions more collect welfare payments.  And still millions more (the working poor) get money back rather than pay income taxes under the earned income tax credit.  ObamaCare is just one more entitlement program on top of all of these that will lead to the bankruptcy of the United States.   All of this so far has led to a $14 Trillion National Debt that grows by the day.   This has not occurred because taxes are too low; but rather because spending is just too high and is growing at a trajectory that is unsustainable.

Even if income taxes were raised by 50% on the "rich", which would cause a Depression, it would be impossible to pay for all these people on the dole.  Yet, this is the traditional basis of power for Socialist Presidents and Members of Congress.  What we have today is a federal government, including all three branches that is out of control and a clear and present danger not only to our national well being; but to our freedoms, as well.  The Congress seeks to tax and regulate all aspects of life.   An activist Judiciary over the years rather than upholding the tenets in the Constitution, has ignored it making laws rather than enforcing them.   And finally, the President has taken on near dictatorial powers never intended in the Constitution.  Today, we have an imperial Presidency with all the trappings of pomp and circumstance that cost our country billions of dollars each year to support.  It is almost as though we have a Royal Family and a Dictator all rolled into one.

We have got to take back out country.   This does not mean tinkering around the edges; but rather taking back many of the powers WE THE PEOPLE have delegated to our elected federal representatives and the Supreme Court.   They have all proven that they cannot be trusted with the powers we gave them.  What we got from them is waste and corruption that will destroy our country if allowed to continue.   We can't let that happen.  We need to get back to the limited government that was the intent of our Founding Fathers.  This will never happen as long as we have Socialists in office.  We must elect Conservatives in 2012 and 2014, not RINO's, who support the Constitution as written by our Founding Fathers, not as contrived by the left wing media, public employee unions, environmental wackos, our current or former Presidents, Congresses, or the Courts.  The Federal Government is out of control and dangerous to our nation and our freedoms.    WE THE PEOPLE must stand up and say NO MORE.
