Sad Day For Democracy In Arizona

Jared Loughner, a 22 year old, deranged man in Tuscon, Arizona staged a brutal attack on democracy by attempting to murder Democrat Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords at a town hall meeting in a shopping center parking lot. In the process, while Giffords fights for her life, a federal judge and five other people were killed and 13 others were wounded. This unstable young man had a history of arrest for drugs and other minor charges; yet he was able to legally buy a gun, which suggests that background checks for gun purchase should be more extensive as a means of protecting and insuring Second Amendment rights. As this story unfolds, if history is our teacher, it is very likely that Loughner comes from a dysfunctional family, which is very often at the root of these insane acts.

Gabrille Giffords, was a blue dog Democrat, not in the Socialist mainstream of her party, which is the reason she was narrowly reelected in 2010 in this Tuscon swing district when challenged by a Republican Tea Party candidate. Giffords was well liked by both Republicans and Democrats as she is one of few Democrats who regularly worked across the aisle to vote with Republicans. Though Giffords did vote for ObamaCare, which was contentious in her district, she supports securing the border, which is at the Southern edge of her congressional district. Ironically, Giffords was also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment to the Constitution, the right to bear arms.

Unfortunately, this tragedy and assault on Democracy is likely to result in even less access to our elected representatives as security becomes even more critical. Clearly, since there will always be deranged people in our society, in addition to the Terrorist threat, elected representatives will need to take more precautions related to public meetings as a logical outcome of this tragedy. What this should not become is an excuse to limit First, or Second Amendment Rights.

Already the left wing media and certain Socialists are blaming "inflammatory right wing" talk radio, television shows and blogs for causing this tragedy in an assault on our Freedom of Speech rights. Of course, the Socialists are also saying that the Tea Party Movement is responsible for this violence. And naturally, those that oppose the Second Amendment right to bear arms will again argue that all guns should be banned even though criminals will always be able to get guns, whether they are legal or not and bombs are the weapon of choice for Terrorists.

Tragedy has often been used as an excuse to limit our freedoms as we are now subject to groping at airports rather than implementation of some logical profiling to identify likely Terrorists. No doubt, left wing demagogues will attempt to use this tragedy to limit our freedoms ever further. We can't let that happen. It is important to recognize that four US Presidents, other Congressmen and Senators and Dr. Martin Luther King were assassinated and or, there have been many attempted assignations long before there was a Tea Party Movement, right wing talk radio, television, or blogs. These murders were generally committed by deranged loners for political, or personal reasons having nothing to do with any groups, or conspiracies. The fact is that verbal or written assaults aside, the American people have far more to fear from an over reaching federal government that confiscates our money and regulates every aspect of daily life, than our elected representatives have to fear from the American people.

While many in the United States vehemently disagree with Socialist ideology, we must take back our country by using ballots not bullets; otherwise we do far more harm that good in preserving our freedom, our nation and way of life. In world history, it has been the Socialists and the Communists that have killed millions in the pursuit of some crazy, Big Brother utopia that has only led to misery and destruction. Contrary to left wing hog wash, there is no one in the Tea Party Movement that this blogger has ever encountered at any rally advocating such violence.

If anything, members of the Tea Party Movement have been clear in their intent, using words to convince not harm, which was demonstrated by huge involvement and big electoral wins in 2010. The Tea Party Movement is within the mainstream of American society committed to democracy not anarchy. It is left wing radicals around the world that frequently riot in the streets when they don't get their way. We shall see when the inevitable spending cuts come in the United States, if the American left wing and big unions act responsibly, or in keeping with their brothers and sisters overseas.

Ironically, it is left wing Socialists and President Obama that seek to use class warfare and rantings against the "rich" defined as those making $250,000 or more, that divides and threatens our society and yet there is no condemnation of such rhetoric. Why is that? This tragedy in Arizona was a random act of violence, committed by a deranged individual, that should be condemned by all rational Americans. That does not mean that we should be silenced related to President Obama's Socialist Schemes to "transform" our country into a European style Socialist nation. We don't want it! We don't want it! We don't want it!

Instead, we must work even harder to take back our country in 2012 and 2014 by sweeping Socialists out of office and ELECTING Conservatives that support free market capitalism, limited government, lower taxes and less regulation, a balanced budget, term limits, real education, energy and health care reform, a strong national defense, including securing our border and fighting Terrorism, the right to bear arms, the sanctity of life and family values that are the foundation of our nation. This is the platform supported by the majority of the American people and the only way to restore economic growth and job creation in our country. This terrible tragedy in Arizona does not change the threats we face to our freedom and way of life from an out of control, intrusive, deficit spending federal government that is bankrupting our nation.

Even more important, because of this tragedy, we must elect Conservatives, who will adhere to the Constitution, as written by our Founding Fathers, not as contrived by the left wing media, Socialists in the last 98 years, our current, or former Presidents, Congresses, or the Courts. We must take back our country in 2012 and 2014 at the ballot box to preserve our freedom, our nation and way of life. We can do it. We must do it.
