Shrinking The Federal Government While Increasing Revenues

President Obama and his Socialist pals in Congress are trying to raise taxes by a trillion dollars, on those that already pay 40% or more in state and federal income taxes, which would be a real job killer, as part of deal to raise the National Debt Ceiling so Obama can go on borrowing Trillions in the process of bankrupting our country.   Of course, instead of uniting our country, the Socialists are playing the class warfare card, which is nothing unusual because it is the only way they can win elections.   If any of them had worked in business and or just had any common sense, they would realize that tax increases are not necessary to increase revenues to the federal government and/or painlessly cut expenses.   Let me show you how.

First, over the next five years, federal government union employees should be cut by 500,000 employees from the current 2.65 million civilian employees.   This could all be accomplished by normal attrition for retirement, deaths and rare terminations, not lay offs, to allow the government to adjust to fewer employees.   Since it takes two government employees to do the job of one private sector employee, these cuts would not be painful at all as productivity would have to increase. This would save Trillions of dollars over 10 years and help get federal government spending down from the current 25% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) to an acceptable 17%, which would still provide for the provision of essential services.  Remember, there are currently around 15 million public employees working for local, county and state governments consuming a total of 15% of GDP.   This is not much different than Communism where nearly all employees worked for the government.   Of course, this would mean that some useless, wasteful, redundant departments, agencies, commissions out of the more than 1,300 and programs would have to be eliminated; but we would all be richer for it.

Second, the federal government owns millions of acres of land managed by the Bureau of Land Management, particularly in Western States that can be sold to allow for ranching, or other development.  If the government owns it, that means there are no property taxes being paid on it, which hurts the states.  In fact, the federal government owns Camp Pendleton, a marine base, along 17 miles of coast line in California between Orange and San Diego counties.   This is prime land that would be developed into ocean view homes, worth hundred of billions of dollars.   Do the marines really need to be located on this particular incredibly valuable land.   Certainly, they can move further up the coast, where there are also bases in more isolated areas of California if they need coast line access.

Third, if only the Obama Administration would allow for more oil drilling, mining, nuclear, clean coal and natural gas development, there would Trillion of dollars in royalties paid to the federal government.  Instead, the environmental wackos sue to stop all energy development costing the federal government all these revenues.  This has got to stop.

Forth, there can be infrastructure development of highways, bridges, the electrical grid and just about any other project, using bonds that are paid for by tolls and user fees.   These can all be constructed by the private sector creating millions of jobs; not by more borrowing from the Chinese adding to the National Debt.

Finally, all park, lakes, streams and other recreational federal government lands should be leased for 10 - 20% of the user fees generated, to private sector operators, with strict provisions regarding maintenance.  This would get more federal employees off the federal payroll and turn these facilities into money making operations, both for the private sector companies and the federal government.

President Obama and his Socialist pals in Congress just cannot conceive of these free market solutions to increasing federal revenues without raising taxes.   Instead, what they always do is advocate higher taxes on the "rich" whom they define as those making $200,000 a year, if single and $250,000 a year if married.   Why they want to punish the Makers in society to give to the Takers, their PEEP's, the 50% of Americans that pay no income taxes at all, those on the dole, illegal aliens, union employees, and favored industries like GE that got Billions in bail out monies and paid no income taxes in 2010 is beyond me.

The remedies I have suggested would allow the federal government to cut the $6 Trillion dollars, over ten years that was in the House passed Ryan Budget, while at the same time substantially increases revenues to the federal government without any tax increases at all to help pay of the current $15 National Debt.   Of course, this is all just Economics 101 and common sense, which Socialists, including President Obama just don't understand.

As such, we have got to sweep these Socialists, including the President, out of office in 2012 and 2014.   They are destroying and bankrupting our country.   We just can't let that happen.  Instead, we must elect rock solid, common sense Conservatives that support free market capitalism, limited government, lower taxes and less regulation, a balanced budget, term limits, real education, energy and health care reform, a strong national defense, including securing our border and fighting Terrorism, the right to bear arms, the sanctity of life and family values that are the foundation of our nation.  This is the platform supported by the majority of the American people and the only way to restore economic growth and job creation in America.

We have to take back our country in 2012 and 2014 to prevent the bankruptcy of our nation. We can shrink the federal government while increasing revenues to the federal government with creative ideas.  It can be done; but it will not be done as long as Socialist remain in office.   Obama has to go.  It is time to send Obama and his Socialist pals in Congress and around the country in state elected offices packing.
